The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja pledged the continues support of the Nigerian Army to the Defence and Police Officers Wives' Association (DEPOWA) as they continue to play critical role in building peace and unity.
General Lagbaja who applauded DEPOWA's contributions through humanitarian work made the pledge when he receive in audience the President, Defence and Police Officers Wives' Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Musa at the Army Headquarters Abuja.
The Army Chief who expressed the readiness of the Nigerian Army to continue to support DEPOWA in all their areas of interventions, appreciated the association for carrying along windows of fallen heroes in skills acquisition programs of the association.
"the activities of DEPOWA highlighted by the President fits into one of my command philosophies which is sound administration, we need associations like DEPOWA to act as a bridge between the Army Headquarters and the people, and the larger contingents of our children and people that reside in the barracks. I want to pledge that the army Headquarters will continue to partner with DEPOWA inorder to extend the frontier of our reavhing out" stated General Lagbaja.
The President Defence and Police Officers Wives' Association (DEPOWA). Mrs. Ogogo Musa on behalf the association appreciated the great work the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces in general have been doing in securing the nation.
She pledged that DEPOWA will continue to contribute to the non kenetic operations of the military through empowerment of Barracks youths and sorrounding communities.
"We intend to do more for our youths in the Barracks through skills Acquisitions programs, more knowledge in information technology, and to further reduce poverty, we have began reaching out to the most vulnerable in our various Barracks and surrounding communities"
Mrs. Ogogo Musa equally expressed the readiness of DEPOWA to embark on various campaigns and initiatives to support women development, carry out humanutarian services to IDPs camps and helping wounded soldiers.
