The Nigerian Army has denounced what it described as fraudulent financial demands making the rounds on some social media platforms with claims to have emanated from the Nigerian Army.
The Army said some faceless unscrupulous persons are soliciting funds for the vetting of selected trainees undergoing training already at the Depot, Nigerian Army, Zaria.
A statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu made it clear that throughout the history of the Nigerian Army, training of potential recruits and officer cadets are fully funded and borne by the Nigerian Army.
The statement therefore describe the claim as not only fraudulent but criminal which must be nipped in the bud before it festers.
The statement further said attempts to fleece unsuspecting members of the public, whose wards successfully scaled through the meticulous and rigorous process of screening and are currently in training as potential recruits is viewed as serious criminal intent aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the Nigerian Army.
The Parents and guardians have been advise to disregard such spurious requests in whatever guise and to report anyone trying to fleece them as efforts are already on to track the source of these messages in order to bring them to book.
The Nigerian Army reiterates that training of potential recruits and officer cadets is fully funded and borne by the Nigerian Army. Members of the general public are urged to be wary of the antics of criminals to scam them.
