Supporting the Victims of Armed Conflicts: MNJTF Reaffirms Adherence to International Laws to ICRC Delegation

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has commended the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) supporting the victims of armed conflicts, expressing the MNJTF's eagerness to reinforce its collaboration with the humanitarian organization. 

The Force Commander MNJTF, Major General Ibrahim Ali gave the commendation during a visit by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation from Chad to Headquarters MNJTF on 22 February 2024. 
Gen Ali reaffirmed the MNJTF's adherence to international laws, particularly those relating to armed conflicts. He welcomed the ICRC’s ongoing efforts and underlined the importance of adhering to the established international laws and standards that govern armed conflict situations. 

Major General Ali's affirmation is coming at a crucial time, with ongoing conflicts in the region placing civilian populations at risk. He expressed his readiness to work closely with the ICRC to ameliorate the conditions of those affected by conflicts and ensure the conduct of the force remains within the bounds of international legal frameworks.
The leader of the ICRC delegation, Alfa Mamadou Djallo, said their main objective was to update the Force Commander on the ICRC’s activities in Lake Chad Basin region while emphasizing the ICRC's commitment to providing continuous support to the MNJTF in accomplishing its mandate.  

Djallo affirmed that the ICRC's doors are always open and for collaborative efforts to assist and protect individuals in conflict zones.
