Nigeria, German Government Strenghten Collaborations In Areas of Defence Infrastructure And Security

The Nigerian Government and its German counterparts are strengthening longstanding relationship between the two countries in defence in the area of defence infrastructure, security and well-being of citizens.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence Dr. Ibrahim Kana in a statement said the renewal and expansion of the partnership between Nigeria and Germany is aimed at identifying key areas for collaboration to ensure continued support for the development and security of Nigeria.  
Dr. Kana was speaking in Benue State where he recieved on behalf of the Nigerian Government, a state-of-the-art facility build by the German government for Nigeria at the Nigeria Army School of Military Engineers (NASME) in Benue. 

The Permanent Secretary who was on a tour of the facility with the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Annette Günther met with Executive Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Allia at the Government House in Makurdi and were lead on tour of the facility at the Nigeria Army School of Military Engineers (NASME), where Ambassador Günther formally handed the facility to the government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Defence.
He expressed gratitude on behalf of the Nigerian government to Germany emphasized the importance of such collaboration for the security of the nation. 

The Permanent Secretary praised the German government for establishing a state of the art prosthesis and rehabilitation centre at 44 Armed Forces Reference hospital, Kaduna where injured personnel get their lost limbs replaced promptly and at no cost, thus boosting troop morale and saving government huge foreign exchange. 

The Benue state Governor, Father Allia expressed his deep commitment to driving sustainable development and improving the livelihoods of the people of Benue State. 
He outlined areas of potential collaboration with Germany, including investment and technical assistance, education and skills development, healthcare and infrastructure, security management, environmental conservation and climate change, cultural exchange and tourism, humanitarian development assistance, capacity building, institutional strengthening, and private sector engagement.

He expressed hope that the cooperation will advance the shared goals of peace, prosperity, and security between the two nations. 

While handing over the facility that came with training of the personnel of the Nigeria Army School of Military Engineers, Ambassador Günther emphasized the commitment of the German government to supporting Nigeria in various endeavors, including training personnel in identifying and managing improvised explosive devices (IEDs). 
She stressed Germany's dedication to mutual progress and security, citing joint projects between the two ministries of Defence as examples of fruitful cooperation.

The partnership between Nigeria and Germany holds great promise for both nations, and through continued collaboration and support as they aim to achieve sustainable development and improve the lives of their citizens.
