Nigeria Boost Efforts in Countering Terrorists Ideology, Strenghtens Ties With Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru has expressed the Nigeria's readiness to partner with the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) to strengthen the war against terrorism, in order to free the country and the world from terrorists and other non-state armed groups. 

The Minister restated this when the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Major General Adamu Laka led the Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi to the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.

A statement by the Head, Strategic Communications National Counter Terrorism Centre, ONSA, Abu Michael said, Abubakar urged the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition leadership to work closely with the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Nigeria led by Major General Laka to boost efforts in countering terrorists ideology. 

He pledged to discuss with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa to reactivate the deployment of officers of the Nigerian Military to the IMCTC and other training programmes designed to boost the existing relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.   

The National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Major General Laka also led the IMCTC delegation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye, and interaction with service Chiefs as part of the strategic engagement towards strengthening holistic actions against terrorism and activities of non-state armed groups.
