Hoisting And Lowering of Command Flag: Nigerian Army Performs Symbolic Ceremony At Headquarters

The Nigerian Army on Monday performed the symbolic lowering and hoisting of flag that signifies a new command of leadership by the Chief of Army Staff ( COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede. 

The symbolic ceremonial flag hosting and new Command took place on Monday, 9th of December 2024 at the Army Headquarters, Abuja in Nigeria's capital.
The brief ceremony which was followed by a closed door meeting with principal staff officers of the Nigerian Army, began with the ceremonial mounting of quard, followed by lowering and handing of the flag of the late Chief of Army Staff for onward transition to the Nigerian Army museum, before a new flag was hoisted signifying a new command post. 

It would be recalled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had appointed the current Chief of Army Staff shortly before the announcement of the demise of Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja who died while in active service of to the fatherland. 
Ths Chief of Army Staff ( COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede who was appointed on acting capacity was also recently confirmed substantive Chief of Army Staff By the National Assembly.

Lieutenant General Oluyede held the post of the 56th Commander of the Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army in Jaji, Kaduna State before his appointment as COAS and is a members of the 39th Regular Course.

He has held saveral other command post before his appointment participating in several operations, both within and outside the country earnimg many honours.
