The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has assured the Yobe State Government of Nigerian Army’s commitment to deal with security challenges in the state.
The COAS gave the assurance on Sunday 26 January 2025 during a visit to Yobe State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
A statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said this is part of the COAS ongoing operational tour of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI.
General Oluyede intimated the governor that he would ensure that troops are provided with all the necessary support to be able to carry out their task of securing the state while appreciating the government and the people of Yobe State for their support to the troops.
The Governor in response, expressed appreciation to the COAS for the visit and called for escalation of concerted effort to decisively deal with the security situation in the state.
Governor Buni further pledged his continous support to the troops to facilitate the attainment of their objectives and seized the opportunity to pray for the repose of the souls of the troops who paid the supreme price for the restoration of peace in the state.
