Brigadier General Unachukwu Applauds Gallantry of 28 Task Force Brigade During Operational Visit

The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu has extolled the gallantry of officers and troops of 28 Task Force (TF) Brigade for their resilience, courage and determination in dominating their general area of operations against the marauding elements of the Boko Haram Insurgents. 


The GOC stated this on Wednesday, 24 June, 2025 while on a 2 days operational visit to the Brigade's Headquarters (BHQs) location in Chibok and its Battalions (Bn) under command: 115 Task Force Battalion Askira, 271 Task Force Tank Battalion Michika and 144 Battalion Madagali.

A statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 7 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Ajemasu Jingina said on arrival at the Battalion Headquarters in Chibok, the GOC was received and given an operational brief by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General OA Adejoro. 


While addressing the troops, the GOC disclosed that the aim of the visit was to enable him assess the combat readiness of the Brigade and its elements, enjoining the Commanders at various levels to intensify their operational efforts, be proactive and deal decisively with the adversaries by taking the battle to them in their enclaves. 

He further urged the commanders to ensure they maintain constant interaction with stakeholders in order to uphold a sustainable civil-military cooperation as means of Non-kinetic Operation.


The General Officer Commanding also paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Askira, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji (Dr) Mai Abdullahi Ibn Muhammadu Askirama in his palace and expressed appreciation for the Emir's immense support and collaboration with the troops in his domain.  

He said the Division was aware of the persistent issues confronting the people of Askira especially as they have commenced the farming season. He emphasized that the Nigerian Army (NA) will continue to do its best to ensure that farmers have access to cultivate their farmlands with adequate security at all times, to enhance productivity and to guarantee food security nation wide.


The Emir, Alhaji Abdullahi Askirma described the NA as a fantastic force that has always given the people a reason to live again while explaining his experience as a victim of insurgency. He said prior to this period, his domain was abandoned due to the activities of the terrorists but today is a new dawn.  
"Today, we can sleep in our respective domain with our eyes closed and most indigents have settled back to their ancestral homes even though there are some districts that are still not occupied" 


"No words can quantify how grateful we are to the military for their untiring efforts, we sincerely commiserate with those that have paid the supreme sacrifices and we pray for the almighty Allah to forgive them their shortcomings"
