The United Nations Office for Counter-Terrorism has expressed profound appreciation to Nigeria for its contribution to fighting global terrorism in line with humanitarian law.
Nigeria's role in global counter terrorism and Counter insurgency has in no doubt gained global recognition especially with the vontributions of Nigeria in global peace keeping missions.
Nigeria has also been confronting the war against terrorism insurgency banditry among other domestic security challenges head on and at the same time play its role effectively in regional forces such as the Multinational Joint Task Force.
It is against this backdrop that the Under Secretary General, United Nations Office for Counter - Terrorism, Mr. Vladimir Voronkov deemed it fit to expressed profound appreciation to Nigeria's efforst when he had audience with the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja at Army Headquarters.
He commended Nigeria's efforts in counter terrorism in the North East and expressed the UN's readiness to partner with Nigeria in tackling the global menace.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has expressed the Nigerian Army's readiness to work with critical partners especially the United Nations counter terrorism unit as he acknowledged the welth of experience of the united nations in the erea of counterterrorism.
General Lagbaja said the Nigerian Army is ooised to work with the United Nations in the multidimensional actovities of violence extremist.
He further stated that the Nigerian Army does not just focus on Kenetic approach to solving conflicts but deploys the non kenetic measures in collaborations with relevant organisations and agencies to help the communities in which they operate.
