The Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI has repelled a coordinated attack by ISWAP terrorists and launched a counter-offensive in the Buratai axis of Borno State, inflicting heavy losses on the attackers.

The Theatre Command disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, that the terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on troop locations at Dusten Kura and Chara Road in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area in the early hours of 19 June 2026.
According to the statement, alert troops supported by intelligence systems quickly detected the incursion and responded with superior firepower in a coordinated air and ground operation.
The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, executed precision strikes and intelligence surveillance operations that disrupted the attackers’ formation and weakened their offensive momentum.
The combined response forced the terrorists to retreat in disarray after sustaining significant casualties in personnel and equipment.
The Theatre Command confirmed that no casualties were recorded on the side of own troops during the engagement.
Operation HADIN KAI described the outcome as evidence of strong operational readiness and effective synergy between ground and air components in sustaining pressure on insurgent groups.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action and ensuring the protection of civilians across the North East.
The operation reflects continued dominance-driven counterinsurgency efforts in the North East, with increased reliance on joint air-ground precision operations to degrade terrorist capabilities.
The military also urged the public to continue providing timely intelligence to support ongoing operations.
