Kuje Resident Applaud Intensified Operations By Nigerian Military

The combined efforts of security agencies in Nigeria especially that of the Nigerian Army have been applauded by the residents of Kuje Area Council, a suburb in the Federal Capital Territory, the Nation's Capital. 

According to the residents who spoke during an interview, the intensified military operations that have curbed the activities of criminal gangs operating in the area have been heaving a sigh of relief for them. 

They said house to house robbery and other sundry crimes that were observed in the area have reduced greatly impacting on the peace and tranquility enjoyed by residence during festive seasons of Easter and Sallah celebrations.

One of the residents by name John Ibekwe in Angwan Gede said although in the last two weeks, a trend by criminal gangs harassing residents and shop owner was on the increase but with the combined efforts of security agencies, the gangs seemed to have faded into oblivion.

“I have seen the Army on countless occasion respond to distress calls within minutes and this is quite unprecedented. I believe there’s something the Commanders within these areas are doing differently.”

He commended the Civil-Military approach by the Nigerian Army to win the hearts of residents particularly that of the Guards Brigade, giving them heightened confidence to approach the security agencies whenever the need arises.

Another resident who runs a local bar around Kuchiyako neighborhood by name John Frank, acknowledged the improved security situation while calling on the residents to support the troops by providing credible information on suspicious activities of criminals in the area.

"They are here because of us so we must give them the necessary support to aid their work. If I see strange faces here it is my responsibility to alert the troops"

A member of the vigilante, Aliyu expressed happiness with the policy of the Nigerian Army to engage the locals in intelligence gathering which has continued to keep criminals faraway from their locality.

“Because the Army is encouraging us, we are also helping to provide information if we notice the presence of harmful elements.”

Although the operations of the military are yeilding successes, one resident observed that it makes the people close earlier than necessary from their business activities which may also affect economic yield.

It would be recalled that in October 2023, the Commander Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Adebisi Onasanya launched Ex Enduring Peace, sequel to Exercise Olode M'Ole a combined Operations involving other Security agencies, geared towards nipping criminal activities in the bid and this has been yielding successes.
