South African, Nigerian Defence Chiefs Hold Closed Doors Meeting in Pretoria, Explore Areas of Mutual Military And Economic Benefits

The need for mutual cooperation and reinforcement of bilateral ties in addressing regional security challenges formed the centre of discussions between the Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS), General Christopher Musa and the Chief of South Africa National Defence Force (SANDF), General Rudzani Maphwanya.
A statement by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau the meeting held on 1st July 2024, was part of an official visit by the Nigerian Defence Chief   to Pretoria, South Africa where he was received by his South African counterpart in his office. 
The arrival of General Musa was herald with ceremonial Cannon Gun Salutes in his honour before going into a closed door meeting with the aim of discussing matters of mutual benefits and possible areas of co-operations, between the two leaders nations. 
The need to exchange expertise, forge stronger ties between the two countries for the betterment of the continent, as well as the strenghtening of military ties between the two largest economies and military powers on the African continent were on the burner. 
At the meeting were the South Africa National Defence Force Chiefs of Intelligence, Policy and Plans, International Affairs and Joint Operations amongst other departmental chiefs.
