Nigerian Military Sustain Momentum Against Criminal Elements Across Theatres In Defence Media Operations Updates

Troops across the country have sustained momentum against economic saboteurs, terrorists, bandits and all criminal elements recovering stolen crude oil, rescuing kidnapped victims and preventing attacks in some areas.

Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE Troops have destroy Illegal Refining Sites, recovering 920,800 litres of stolen crude oil, 88,760 litres of illegally refined AGO and 7,500 litres of PMS in Southern Ijaw and Ovwie LGAs of Bayelsa and Delta States respectively.

A statement by the Director Defence Media Operations Major General Edward Buba said troops discovered and destroyed 15 dugout pits, 17 boats, 62 drums, one receiver and 27 storage tanks.

Troops of Operation UDO KA during the week under review; conducted fighting patrols and arrested suspected violent extremists/IPOB/ESN in Ihiala of Anambra as well as Ahoada West and Orlu LGAs of Imo State respectively.

In Ihiala and Ahoada West LGAs of Anambra and Rivers States, troops neutralized 3 IPOB/ESN members and and arrested 2 suspects. The troops also recovered one pump action gun, 36 cartridges, IED accessories, one vehicle, one Motorola Radio, 3 mobile phones and assorted charms amongst others.
b. Arrest Operation. 

In the North East Theatre, Troops of Operation HADIN KAI on 7 August 2024, a total of 41 BH/ISWAP terrorists and family members comprising 5 adult males, 8 adult females and 28 children surrendered to troos in Bama, Gwoza and Dikwa LGAs of Borno State.

According to General Buba, between 7 and 13 Aug 24, a total of 94 terrs comprising 19 adult males 26 adult females and 49 children surrendered to troops within the theatre of operations.

b. Fighting Patrols. 
Troops also neutralized 11 terrorists and recovered 7 AK47 rifles, 2 locally fabricated guns, 4 magazines, 112 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammo, 89 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 2 motorcycles and cutlasses amongst others. 

"Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 81 terrorists, arrested 52 suspects and rescued 34 kidnappers hostages. Troops recovered 21 AK47 rifles, one FN rifle, 5 fabricated guns, 8 dane guns, 2 RPG bombs, one RPG charger, 344 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 320 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 112 rounds 7.62 x 39mm ammo, 73 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 5 magazines, 13 motorcycles, 6 bicycles, 2 mobile phones and the sum of N39,000.00 only mongst others"

Operation SAFE HAVEN conducted offensive operations, counter/anti kidnapping operations as well as arrested suspected violent extremists in Riyom, Wase, Bokkos, Bassa, Barkin Ladi, Mangu, Kanke, Jos East, North and South LGAs of Plateau State as well as Sanga LGA of Kaduna State respectively.

During the operations troops neutralized 10 insurgents, arrested 78 violent extremists and rescued 16 kidnapped hostages.

The troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI neutralized a total of 30 terrorists, arrested 21 terrorists and rescued 44 kidnapped hostages. 

They also recovered 13 AK47 rifles, one fabricated rifle, 5 dane guns, 288 rounds of RG55 ammo, 40 rounds of CJ95 ammo, 256 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 101 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 6 live cartridges, 3 magazines, one baofeng radio, 11 motorcycles and 3 mobile phones only amongst others.

The troops of Operation AWATSE according to the DMO Director arrested 5 violent extremists and recovered 4 AK47 rifles, one locally fabricated pistol, 110 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 4 live cartridges, 8 magazines and 2 vehicles amongst others. All recovered items, arrested suspects and rescued hostages were handed over to the relevant authority for further action according to the military.
