The Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru has disclosed that the Proposed bill to change Nigerian Legion to Nigerian veterans has been forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for vetting and transmission to the National Assembly.
The Minister who was speaking at a briefing in Abuja Nigeria's Capital also assured the veterans that efforts are on by the Ministry to address concerns with regards to the Security Debarment Allowance (SDA)
Badaru who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Kana it is hoped that the Bill when passed will not only change the name 'Nigerian Legion' to Veterans Federation of Nigeria Bill, but will also make provisions for the improvement in the welfare and well-being of the veterans who had given their best years in service of the country.
He said the Ministry has maintained continuous interface with the Veterans and a committee that drafted the proposal was headed by the Permanent Secretary, comprising of representatives of the Veteran Associations, senior officials of the Ministry of Defence and other senior staff.
