The Presidency of the Republic of Chad has informed national and international community that about forty of its soldiers have died in a tragic attack of one of its Defense and Security Forces Base by assailants on the night of Sunday, October 27, 2024.
As guarantor of the country's security and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the Head of State, launched the "HASKANITE" operation to pursue and track down the attackers to their last entrenchments.
The attach according to the Deputy Director General of Communications, Ndjamena Chad, Madame Halime'assadya Ali took place in Barkaram, an island located west of Ngouboua in the department of Kaya, Lac province.
According to the statement, the President of the Republic of Chad, Head of State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno visited the site on early morning of October 28th 2024 after he was alerted to the situation.
During the visit he observed the situation on the ground, pay tribute to the missing soldiers, express his compassion for the wounded and boost the morale of his brothers in arms.
The President of the Republic has also reassured the populations of the area, as well as the Defense and Security Forces, of his unwavering commitment to defending and securing the entire country.
