The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has commended the National Assembly for the speedy screening of the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede after he witnessed the screening process in both chambers.
The Defence Chief said he was impressed with the manner in which the Senate and House Committees for Army screened the Acting Chief of Army Staff while assuring the National Assembly that Lieutenant General Oluyede would bring new vigor and his vast experience to bear in the fight against insecurity if confirmed as substantive Chief of Army Staff.
In a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the CDS also pledged that Lieutenant General Oluyede would build on the legacy of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja and described the prompt action of the National Assembly as patriotic and apt at a critical time.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to securing the nation, stating that AFN remains loyal to the constituted authority in pursuit of its constitutional roles.
