Deepening Military Cooperation: Matawalle Recieves AFRICOM Delegation With Focus On Counter-insurgency Operations, Regional Stability

A meeting between the Minister of State for Defence Dr Bello Matawalle has reiterated the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s commitment to deepening military cooperation with the United States Armed Forces. 


He State this when the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) delegation led by Director of Strategy, Plans, and Programs, Major General Garrick M. Harmony met with him at the ministry of Defence, Ship House, Abuja.
 
According to a statement by the Personal Assistant to the Minister on Media, Ahmad Dan-Wudil, the meeting focused on issues related to counterinsurgency operations and regional stability with Key areas requiring strategic assistance from the United States outlined


The two parties emphasised on sustaining pressure against insurgent and terrorist elements operating within Nigeria and the African Continent. 

Matawalle commended AFRICOM and emphasized that the Nigeria–U.S. defence relationship remains a critical pillar of national security and regional peace efforts.


The Minister of State for also received a delegation from the EduFund Africa Initiative, led by the Executive Vice President, Hadiza Aliyu, in Abuja.

EduFund Africa is a non-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing access to quality education for underprivileged children across the continent. The initiative provides financial support to students at all levels of education, with a focus on promoting inclusive and equitable learning opportunities.
