President Tinubu Salutes the Sacrifice of the Armed Forces on Independence Day

The President of Nigeria Bola Tinubu has saluted and commended the country’s gallant security forces for keeping the nation safe and securing its territorial integrity.


A mission in whose pursuit many of the men of the Armed Forces have paid the ultimate sacrifice.


The President said this in a nationwide broadcast on the celebration of  Nigeria’s 63rd Independence anniversary.


President Tinubu said the country remembers those who paid the supreme price and their families as the Service Chiefs have been tasked with the vital responsibility of rebuilding the capacities of the security services.


He reaffirmed that his government has improved intelligence sharing and inter-service collaboration among the country’s security agencies, placing utmost importance on ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.

The President acknowledged the great sacrifices it takes in safekeeping and securing the nation’s territorial integrity by the men of the armed forces and all Nigeria's security agencies.


He promised that his administration would continue to equip the armed forces to enable them carry out their responsibility effectively. 


“My administration shall always accord the highest priority to the safety of the people. Inter-Service collaboration and intelligence sharing have been enhanced. Our Service Chiefs have been tasked with the vital responsibility of rebuilding the capacities of our security services.”


In the spirit of fairness amd in pursuit of peaceful society, the President further pledged that future key appointments would align with Nigeria’s constitutional guidelines and would be conducted with fairness for all individuals. He added that special attention will be given to women, youth and people living with disabilities.


“We shall continue to make key appointments in line with the provisions of the Constitution and with fairness toward all. Women, Youth and the physically challenged shall continue to be given due regard in these appointments.”
