Contract: Finidi George Unveiled to Media As Super Eagle's Coach by NFF Unveiles


The Nigerian Football Federation has on Monday 13th May, 2024, unveiled Finidi George to the media as the Coach of the Senior National Team, the Super Eagles. 

The unveiling of Coch Finidi George which brought together stakeholders in football as well as a mass turn out of media houses, took place at the Press Centre, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, Nigeria's Capital
There has been a good trend accross African football whereby national football federations are engaging retired players of national teams who are indegenous to take up the task of overseeing the national teams cutting down Iver reliance on foreign coaches. 

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, called on all stakeholders to support Finidi George to succeed. 
He said the appointment of Finidi George has been well received by Nigerians while expressing confidence that the coach will do well the Super Eagles. 

The President of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF)’ Dr. Ibrahim Gusau, stated that the appointment of Finidi George is in line with the clamour of Nigerians for the appointment of an indigenous coach to handle the Super Eagles. 
He said the federation had directed the technical team to take on the responsibility of picking the coach in choosing an indigenous coach for the national team. He therefore called on all Nigerians to support him to succeed as the the World Cup and AFCON qualifiers are ahead of the National team.

The new Super Eagles coach Finidi George, who was delighted with his appointment promised to do his best in moving Nigerian Football to greater heights. 
Former Nigerian international, Daniel Amokachi(Assistant Coach),Olatunji Baruwa( Goalkeeper Trainer), Chima Onyeka(Fitness Trainer)and Benjamin James were also unveiled as members of the technical team
