A total of 9 terrorists have been neutralized by the troops of Operation Lake Sanity 2 under the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) with a significant amount of arms and ammunition recovered in Sector 3 Nigeria between 17th and 18th of July 2024.
A statement by Chief Military Public Information Officer MNJTF N'Djamena Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi said troops on the 18th of July 2024 conducted an offensive operation in Yashinti Village, Nganzai Local Government Area (LGA) Borno State Nigeria.
During the firefight, 4 terrorists were neutralized and items recovered include one AK-47 rifle, 3 AK-47 rifle magazines, and 7 rounds of 7.62mm x 39mm special ammunition.
In a separate clearance operations across Gajiram, Marram, Tumtumari, Layinma, Kulunkiya, Gadayi Tumtumari, and Kodayi in Nganzai LGA, troops neutralized 4 more terrorists attempting to disrupt agricultural activities.
A 10-year-old boy, Mustapha Bukar, who had been abducted by the terrorists, was rescued and reunited with his family. Troops recovered 2 AK-47 rifles, 4 magazines, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm and 30mm ammunition.
Also, MNJTF troops conducted a night ambush at an identified terrorist crossing point in Kukawa LGA where one terrorist was neutralized in the operation with one AK-47 rifle, six magazines, and 118 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
The Joint Task Force in the statement said these operations highlight its commitment to restoring peace and stability in Lake Chad basin region.
These successes not only continue to weaken the operational capabilities of the insurgents but also provides a sense of safety and confidence to the local communities.
