AANI Set to Elect National Executive At 45TH Annual General Meeting in Kuru, Jos

The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) is set to elect a new National Executive Committee that will steer the affairs of the Association for the next two years during its 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) holding on Saturday, 28th June 2025, at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, Plateau State. 


A statement by the AANI National Publicity Secretary, retired Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka on Thursday, 26th June 2025 said the meeting is expected to bring together all members that include top public officials, security chiefs, royal fathers, and members of the Institute’s alumni drawn from across the country.

As a community of policy and strategy professionals committed to national transformation, the AGM provides a timely platform for critical reflections on AANI and its strategic role in advancing national development.

The association's Prominent members that are expected to grace the Annual General Meeting include Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru and the Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of AANI’s Heritage Council, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed A Audi, heads of various security agencies, Permanent Secretaries, and heads of departments and agencies, etc. 


Other members from the military, police, security agencies, the private sector, civil society, and academia will all converge at the meeting to discuss matters of national interest and the advancement of the Association.

The AGM programme will feature an address by the AANI President, Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, mni, and a speech by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang. Keynote lecture by Professor Okey Ikechukwu, who is a Professor of Strategic Management and Human Capital Development, Executive Director, Development Specs Academy and Senior Fellow, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. This will be followed by an interactive session and presentation of goodwill messages. 


Members will then move into plenary deliberations covering the review and adoption of minutes of the previous AGM, presentation of financial and audit reports, and discussions on matters arising, constitutional amendments, and other strategic updates. In line with its motto: “Towards a Better Society”, AANI continues to play an important role in shaping policy, promoting unity and contributing to Nigeria’s development through advice, advocacy and strategic engagement on policy matters. The 45th AGM promises to be another landmark in this noble journey, and all members of the Institute are enjoined to attend and participate fully in the deliberations.
