President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has decorated the newly appointed Service Chiefs with their new ranks at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The decoration followed the Senate’s confirmation of the nominees after their appointment by the President. The new Service Chiefs are General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS); Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff (COAS); Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, Chief of Air Staff (CAS); Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS); and Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI).
According to a statement from the State House, the ceremony was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu.
Also present were heads of security and intelligence agencies, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, ministers, senior government officials, and family members of the newly decorated officers.
In his address, President Tinubu charged the new Service Chiefs to act decisively against emerging security threats, calling for innovation, courage, and proactive use of technology to safeguard the nation.
“It marks the beginning of our renewed effort to ensure the peace and security of all Nigerians,” the President said, urging the new leadership to “smash the new snakes right in the head” and deliver results, not excuses.
