The visit signalled a renewed drive to strengthen alignment between MNJTF and Operation HADIN KAI at a critical phase of ongoing counter terrorism operations across Nigeria and neighbouring member states of the Lake Chad Basin.

According to a briefing at Maimalari Military Cantonment, the MNJTF Force Commander said the visit was aimed at formally introducing himself as the new Force Commander in N’Djamena and reinforcing coordination with OPHK ahead of future joint operations across shared operational spaces.

He emphasised that sustained collaboration, vigilance and continuous monitoring remain essential to stabilising the Lake Chad Basin, which he described as a collective security priority for all MNJTF contributing nations.

Major General Audu commended the Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, for what he described as detailed and insightful operational briefings.

“The briefs were meticulous and enlightening, and they highlight the need to continually refine our strategies, incorporate emerging threats and draw lessons from previous operations to avoid setbacks,” he said.

Receiving the MNJTF Commander, the Theatre Commander described the visit as timely and strategically significant, noting that it came at a crucial moment in the theatre’s operations. He said the engagement provided an opportunity to further strengthen synergy between MNJTF and OPHK in securing the Lake Chad axis.

During the visit, the Force Commander received comprehensive briefings on current operations, measures to secure the Lake Chad waterways and protect economic activities, as well as future operational projections within the Joint Operations Area.

As part of the engagement, Major General Audu commissioned the newly completed Sector 3 Officers’ Transit Accommodation at Maimalari Military Cantonment. The facility consists of eight fully furnished one bedroom flats designed to support officers on administrative and welfare leave while reducing unnecessary personnel movement.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Theatre Commander congratulated the Commander Sector 3 OPHK MNJTF on the milestone, describing the project as a practical demonstration of the “Soldiers First” culture.

“This initiative directly supports troop welfare and reduces operational strain, and it should be emulated by commanders at all levels,” he said.

The visit featured operational briefings, interactive sessions, presentation of souvenirs and group photographs, underscoring the deepening regional cooperation between Operation HADIN KAI and the MNJTF in optimising operational platforms and enhancing counter terrorism effectiveness along the Lake Chad waterways.
