In a series of intelligence-driven operations, troops of Sector 1 and Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA recorded operational successes against terrorists and bandits, according to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
In Kaduna State, troops responding to distress calls and intelligence reports rescued kidnapped victims, recovered rustled livestock, arrested suspected bandits and disrupted planned criminal activities.
Troops operating in Kerawa, Igabi Local Government Area, rescued three kidnapped victims, including a one-year-old child, after terrorists fled upon sighting advancing troops. The victims were evacuated for medical attention, with investigations indicating they were being moved towards a terrorist hideout.
In another operation within Kaduna, troops engaged fleeing bandits during cattle rustling activities, neutralised suspected criminals and recovered weapons, ammunition and stolen livestock. Further operations led to the arrest of suspected bandit scouts and recovery of motorcycles and communication devices containing incriminating materials.
Across Zamfara State, Sector 2 troops foiled a planned terrorist attack on Gamdanda Village in Gummi Local Government Area after laying an ambush that forced the attackers to withdraw. Weapons, ammunition, motorcycles and logistics items were recovered during exploitation.
Additional operations in Zamfara resulted in the arrest of suspected violent extremists and informants, while troops in Maru Local Government Area repelled terrorist attacks following reinforcement by troops of 1 Brigade.
In Sokoto State, troops intercepted terrorists attempting to infiltrate Tureta town, forcing them to abandon the operation. A follow-up pursuit led to the rescue of abducted civilians, recovery of rustled livestock and seizure of motorcycles.
Troops also conducted a dawn raid on a terrorist enclave in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, neutralising terrorists and recovering rifles, ammunition, motorcycles, communication devices and other operational items.
The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their resilience and professionalism, assuring residents that offensive operations would continue to degrade terrorist and criminal networks across the North West region.
