The Joint Task Force North East disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, that the operations were conducted between 16 and 19 June 2026 across identified security locations.

According to the statement, troops of 135 Special Forces Battalion Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team, supported by the Quick Reaction Force, responded to intelligence from residents regarding IEDs planted along the Biu-Buratai Road.

The troops located and professionally detonated five IED cylinders without recording casualties, preventing possible attacks against civilians and security forces using the route.

In another operation along the Miyanti–Ngoshe axis, troops of 153 Task Force Battalion engaged terrorists operating on motorcycles while withdrawing from a picketing duty.

The troops responded to hostile fire with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to retreat towards Miyanti.

Recovered items included 817 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, three motorcycles, solar panels, motorcycle components and other logistics materials.

The Joint Task Force further disclosed that troops of 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison intercepted two suspected Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State West Africa Province (BHT/ISWAP) logistics suppliers during a stop-and-search operation.

The suspects were arrested while allegedly transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and relief materials believed to be intended for terrorist elements.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to denying insurgents freedom of action and urged citizens to continue providing timely intelligence to security agencies.
