Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued kidnapped victims, disrupted planned terrorist attacks and arrested suspected extremists during sustained intelligence-led operations across Kaduna and Zamfara States.

The operations, according to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, involved troops of Sector 1 and Sector 2 working with other security agencies.
In Kaduna State, troops responding to a distress call on 18 June 2026 rescued three victims, including a one-year-old child, after bandits abandoned them while attempting to relocate them to a terrorist hideout in Birnin Gwari.
The victims were evacuated for medical attention after being recovered in Kerawa, Igabi Local Government Area, following a swift military intervention.
In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 and supporting security agencies foiled a planned terrorist attack on Gamdanda Village in Gummi Local Government Area after acting on credible intelligence.
The operation resulted in the recovery of weapons, ammunition, motorcycles and other items linked to terrorist activities.
The statement disclosed that troops working with the Defence Intelligence Agency also arrested four suspected violent extremists and informants during a covert operation, while another suspected terrorist, Muhammad Mamman, was apprehended for further investigation.
Troops also repelled a terrorist attack in Maru Local Government Area, supported by reinforcement from 1 Brigade, while additional operations in Bakura Local Government Area prevented planned attacks on Tudun Barade and Badamma communities.
The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, commended the troops’ commitment and urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies.
He also honoured personnel who lost their lives during operations and assured communities that offensive actions against terrorist and bandit networks would continue.
