Nigeria's counter-insurgency campaign is increasingly shifting beyond the battlefield to dismantling the logistics and civilian support networks that enable terrorist organisations to survive.

Fresh operations by troops of Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, demonstrate a growing emphasis on targeting supply chains, financial enablers and human networks sustaining Boko Haram and ISWAP activities across the North-East.
The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni in a statement disclosed the development.
This follows intelligence-led operations in Yobe and Borno States that led to the arrest of four suspected terrorist collaborators, the interception of suspected Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad (JAS) family members fleeing terrorist enclaves, and the recovery of large quantities of logistics supplies believed to be destined for insurgent groups.
The troops of 159 Battalion under Sector 2 conducted a cordon-and-search operation in Geidam, Yobe State, on 3 August following credible intelligence. The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspected collaborators allegedly involved in supplying hard drugs and other logistics to Boko Haram terrorists.
Recovered items included suspected Indian hemp, multiple mobile phones, power banks, knives, torchlights, cigarette rolls, Pregabalin capsules, cough syrup, identification documents, ATM cards and cash, indicating an established support structure rather than isolated criminal activity.
In a separate operation later the same day, troops of Sector 3 Garrison working alongside 242 Reconnaissance Battalion intensified surveillance and logistics interdiction operations around Monguno in Borno State, targeting suspected supply routes servicing ISWAP positions.
The operation led to the arrest of two suspected logistics suppliers who allegedly admitted transporting food and essential supplies to ISWAP fighters operating around Kwatan Dowoshi Village in Kukawa Local Government Area. Troops recovered substantial food stocks, including biscuits, milk, sugar, garri, soap, headlamps, communication devices, traditional items and cash, materials considered vital for sustaining insurgent camps under prolonged military pressure.
Military pressure on terrorist enclaves also produced another operational outcome when troops of 222 Battalion intercepted 20 suspected family members of JAS fighters along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area. The group, comprising women, men and minors, reportedly fled their enclave following intensified offensive operations. They have been transferred to military intelligence personnel for profiling and further assessment in accordance with established procedures.
The latest operations reflect an evolving operational strategy that seeks to weaken terrorist organisations by simultaneously targeting fighters, supply networks, financial facilitators and support structures. By restricting access to food, medicine, communications and logistics, the military aims to reduce insurgent operational endurance while increasing pressure on remaining terrorist cells across the North-East.
