The Nigerian military community on Saturday converged in Kano as serving and retired senior officers joined the spokesman of the military high command, Major General Samaila Uba, for the Wedding Fathia of his two daughters, bringing together senior representatives of the Army, Navy and Air Force in a celebration that extended military bonds into family life.

The ceremony, which began at about 11:02am at Alfurqan Mosque, Alu Avenue, Nasarawa GRA, Kano, saw senior officers and veterans gather to mark the marriages of Sadiya Ismail Uba to Abdulhamid Magaji Bako and Dr Aisha Ismail Uba to Dr Ibrahim Ali Umar.
A Military Community Beyond The Barracks
The presence of senior officers from the three services gave the occasion a wider institutional character, with the gathering reflecting the enduring relationships built through military service, professional mentorship and shared experience.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Air Staff,Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abass, were represented at the ceremony.

Among those who attended were former Nigerian Army spokesman, retired Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, Navy Captain L. Abdulkadir, spokesman of Nigerian Navy Holdings, and other senior serving and retired military officers.
Their participation placed the family celebration within a broader community of officers whose professional relationships have developed across commands, appointments and generations of military service.
Two Marriages, One Family Milestone
For Major General Uba, the occasion carried a deeply personal significance as he witnessed both daughters formally begin new chapters of their lives.
Sadiya Ismail Uba was given in marriage to Abdulhamid Magaji Bako, while Dr Aisha Ismail Uba was married to Dr Ibrahim Ali Umar, bringing together the families represented by the two couples.
Speaking during the celebration, Major General Uba expressed gratitude to Allah for allowing him to witness the marriages of his daughters and described the occasion as a rare blessing.
He also acknowledged the presence of his superiors, mentors, colleagues and junior officers, thanking them for making time to share in the family's important milestone.

The religious dimension of the occasion was anchored at Alfurqan Mosque, where the Chief Imam, who had joined the couples during a private session, offered prayers for the families connected to the marriages.

The ceremony subsequently moved into a reception at Ten to Ten Restaurant, where guests were entertained as the celebration continued.

For a senior military spokesman whose public responsibilities place him at the centre of institutional communication, the occasion instead brought colleagues and former colleagues together around family, faith and celebration.
