The General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, has charged troops of the newly established 321 Artillery Regiment in Iseyin, Oyo State, to deal decisively with security challenges, remain vigilant and maintain professional conduct within their Area of Responsibility.

Major General Mahmuda gave the charge during his maiden operational visit to the regiment’s temporary location on October 17, 2026, highlighting security concerns in the area, particularly the regiment’s proximity to the Old Oyo National Park.
In a statement issued on October 18, 2026, the Acting Deputy Director, 2 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, disclosed that the GOC urged troops to take all necessary operational measures to prevent criminal elements from gaining a foothold in their area of responsibility and to uphold the reputation of the Nigerian Army.
Major General Mahmuda commended the Chief of Army Staff for expanding the Nigerian Army, noting that the development would enhance the service’s capacity to address contemporary security challenges. He also urged the regiment to perform its artillery role effectively and maintain cordial relations with its host community.
The visit reaffirmed the GOC’s commitment to ensuring that newly established formations and units under his command settle in and carry out their assigned responsibilities effectively. It also provided an opportunity for him to interact with troops deployed across the Division’s area of responsibility.
