With the level of success recorded during the presidenctial election, attention now shifts to gobernatorial election across the states of Nigeria with the exception of those that assume office late owing to court procedings that followed the elections in such states. The Independent National Electoral Commission is now saddled with the task of ensuring the hitches expirienced during the presidential election are not repeated in the gobernatorial election. Ahead of the election slatted for April 11, certain reports in the media said INEC has sent materials needed for the smooth conduct of the process to various states for onward distributions to appropriate wards. The contest is expected to be hoter in some states than others. Lagos state in the South West is one place that is drawing attention. Presently occupied by main opposition party in Nigeria (APC), PDP will have to battle hard to take over affairs in the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria. The recent comments made by the Oba of Lagos against the Igbo ethnic group sparked so much reactions across the nation and even outside the country. This may have swayed emotions and support from APC candidate, Ambode Akinwumi to PDP candidate Jimi Agbaje. But ultimately the people will decide come Saturday the 11th of Aprill. Hopefully it will be a peaceful process across board like the presidential election. The message remains that Nigeria is greater and bigger than any individual or group interest, and it must come first. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
