Minister of Defence, Service Chiefs and Chief of Defence Intelligence on Assessment visit of Theatre Command, Maiduguri

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru has assured the people of Borno state that President Tinubu is willing to support the ministry of Defence and the Service Chiefs to see to the end of the fight against insurgency as well ensure the return of peace and economic activities in Borno. 

The Defence Minister gave the assurance when he and the Minister of state for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle in accompany of the Service Chiefs and Chief of Defence Intelligence are in Maiduguri the Borno state Capital as part of assessment and appraisal of the security situation at the Theatre of Operations. 

The Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru, and the Minister of state for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle in accompany of the Service Chiefs arrived Maiduguri the Borno state Capital on Tuesday 28 November 2023 alongside the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General. Taoreed Lagbaja; the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal, Hassan Abubakar; The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; and the Chief of Defence Intelligence,(CDI) Major General Emmanuel Undiandeye.

The ministers and the service chiefs had a first stop at the Government House Maiduguri, where he disclosed that the delegation was assigned by President Bola Tinubu to visit the governor and people of Borno State and to also hear from the Joint troops in the state the progress being made so far. 

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Minister of Defence said the crop of leaders in the military are working in synergy with a resolve to fight the war diligently.

The State Governor, Babangida Zulum while responding said the visit to the theatre demonstrated the commitment of service chiefs towards achieving lasting peace in the state.

He attested that the security situation in the state had improved tremendously as a result of the commitment and successes recorded by the troops. 

The team lead by the Minsiter of Defence later proceeded to the headquarters Theatre Command, Maimalari Cantonment for briefs by the Component Commanders on how the troops are fairing.
