The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has stated that he intends to prioritize continuous training of Nigerian Army personnel as a way of producing competent officers and men who can effectively confront Nigeria's multifaceted security challenges.
The COAS equally emphasized that Training of personnel is a crucial investment needed to achieve high success in all Nigerian Army operations.
He stated this at the inauguration ceremony and inaugural Lecture of the Army War College Course 8/2024, at the Army War College WU Bassey Barracks, Abuja, Nigeria.
The Army Chief challenged the participants to be courageous and ingenious in bringing viable military options to the table that would be daring, logical and reasonable. He further urged the Directing Staff to guide participants to be forthcoming with innovative military options and strategies that can form part of the solutions to national security.
Earlier, the Commandant Army War College Nigeria, Major General Ishaya Maina said the requirement for highly skilled and motivated operational level leaders is more pressing now than ever before.
The Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies AWCN, Brigadier General Aminu Umar, gave Highlight ls of the course 8/2024 which has a total of 77 participants composed of 66 NA officers, 2 NN officers and 2 NAF officers alongside 7 allied officers from friendly countries.
An Inaugural Lecture titled "Military Leadership in Volatile and Complex Operating Environment" was delivered by the former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (Rtd).
