Nigerian Army Aviation Create Lasting Impression, Demonstrating Capacity For Tasks Ahead

The Aviation wing of the Nigerian Army has demonstrated capacity and capability to carry the vision with which it was conceived by showcasing its Personnel's ability and commitment to carry out ariel task of supporting the operations of the ground troops. 

The Army Aviation left a lasting impression in the minds of many who witnessed this year's Nigerian Army Day Celebration, NADCEL 2024, hoisting and flying the Nigerian flag and the Nigerian Army flag over the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Parade Ground, in Jos Plateau State. 
The level of professionalism demonstrated by the team of dedicated and committed men shows that there is an even brighter future for the Aviation wing of the Nigerian Army to enhance the overall operations of the troops. 

The Nigerian government, haven't realised that the vision of the Nigerian Army for the implementation of the aviation wing, approved the necessary funding needed to birth the vision of former past leadership of the Nigerian Army. 
To this end, President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu, under whose leadership the dram came to reality, applauded the Nigerian Army for coming thus far in its journey of being a force to be reckoned not just within the country but within the region, continent and strong history of contributions to world peace missions. 

The President represented at the ceremony by the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, applauded the personnel for their dedication to duty and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation and it's citizens with all sense of duty. 
The Aviation Corps of the Nigerian Army came to life under the leadership of the current Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja from a vision that was conceptualised over a decade ago by past leaderships of the Nigerian army. 

The Army Chief declared at that the Nigerian Army has matured as a highly professional and potent force, with a record that it is proud over the past 161 years of its existence. 
General Lagbaja did not fail to make it clear that the Nigerian Army under his watch is committed to improving its operational effectiveness to meet the ever-changing violent and complex threats to the nation.

In is in the light of this that the Nigerian Army since the last NADCEL, acquired 2 helicopters and numerous battle enablers, expanded and deepened its training activities for operational effectiveness to enable it contain the activities of bandits in the North-West while the heinous crimes of Boko Haram Terrorists have been brought to an all-time low. 
The BELL UH-1H Helicopters are equipped with advanced sensors and enablers to provide support to the troops in the conduct of wide range of missions, including reconnaissance, surveillance, rescue, logistics, transportation, and medical evacuation. 

The Nigerian Army Aviation is led by the Coordinator, Brigadier General Musa Alkhali, with Major General Emeka Onwuamaegbu (retired) who is also a trained Helicopter Pilot as consultant for the Army Aviation.
Standing true to its mission statement to "win all land battles in defence of the Territorial integrity of Nigeria, protect her national interest and accomplish other tasks in aid of Civil authority", the Army has continue to pursue this vision without relenting. 

The Nigerian Army Day Celebration climaxed on the 6th of July in the Plateau State capital with major side attraction of flag flying display by the Nigerian Army Aviation Helicopters BELL UH-1H, HUEY with one hosting the Nigerian flag and the other hosting the Nigerian Army flag. 
The Nigerian Army Day which is held annually to celebrate the contributions of the brave men and women who served and continue to serve in the Nigerian Army.

Some of the highlights included parade and presentation of the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award, armament and equipment display, exhibitions on the historical transformation of the Nigerian Army, as well as display of some research and development efforts.
