Nigeria’s Super Falcons win a record 10th WAFCON title with second-half heroics against host nation Morocco.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons added another glorious chapter to their football legacy after pulling off a sensational comeback to beat hosts Morocco 3–2 in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Rabat.

The Moroccans surged ahead in the first half with goals from Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaâ Mssoudy, sending the home crowd into wild celebration. But the Falcons showed grit and maturity, roaring back after the break.

Forward Esther Okoronkwo converted a penalty to begin the rally, then provided the assists for Folashade Ijamilusi and Joe Echegini, who both found the net to complete Nigeria’s turnaround. The second half dominance silenced the stadium and sealed a dramatic 3–2 win for the defending champions.

The victory seals Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON trophy in 13 appearances, underlining the nation’s enduring dominance in African women’s football.
