The operation, conducted on 31 October 2025, was part of ongoing efforts under Operation Lafiya Nakowa to flush out bandits and terrorists hibernating within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility.

According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the troops acted on credible intelligence about the activities of bandits around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages in Takum LGA.
