🇳🇬 ‘Our Resolve To Defend Nigeria Remains Unwavering’, CDS Oluyede Tells Nigerians At Christmas



The Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to defending the nation’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and democratic institutions, assuring Nigerians that the military remains resolute despite evolving security challenges.

In a Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 goodwill message to Nigerians and members of the Armed Forces, the Defence Chief said the festive season offers a solemn moment for reflection on shared national responsibilities, unity and the collective pursuit of peace and progress.


According to the Christmas and New Year message signed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, Christmas embodies values of love, sacrifice, hope and renewal, which he said should guide both national conduct and military service.


“Our trust, cooperation and synergy between the military and the citizenry are indispensable to the attainment of sustainable peace and security,” he stated.


General Oluyede paid special tribute to frontline troops deployed across various theatres of operation, noting that many remain on duty during the festive season while others celebrate with their families.


“Your courage, discipline, professionalism and selfless service, often at great personal sacrifice, epitomise the finest traditions of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” he said.


The Defence Chief assured officers and men that personnel welfare remains a top priority of the Armed Forces leadership, stressing that improved welfare, sound administration and enhanced joint operations form the core of the Military Strategic Philosophy guiding the Armed Forces of Nigeria.


He explained that the philosophy is aimed at consolidating military capabilities through enhanced jointness, reinforced operational posture and improved welfare efforts, all within a whole of government approach to national security.


General Oluyede urged members of the Armed Forces to draw inspiration from the teachings of Christ, emphasising peace, love, forgiveness, discipline and purposeful service, while remaining loyal to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and upholding the values of honour and integrity.


He also called on Nigerians to use the festive season to promote peace, tolerance and unity across ethnic, religious and cultural lines, describing national diversity as a strength critical to building a secure and prosperous country.


The Chief of Defence Staff expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, for his unwavering support to the military, and called for sustained collaboration with sister security agencies in safeguarding the nation.


He concluded by wishing Nigerians, members of the Armed Forces and their families a joyful Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous New Year 2026.
