🇳🇬 Troops Disrupt Kidnap Network, Rescue Victims Under Eastern Sanity Operations

Troops of Operation UDO KA have intensified intelligence-led operations across the South East under Operation EASTERN SANITY, rescuing kidnapped victims and dismantling elements of a criminal network in coordinated engagements spanning Enugu State and Ebonyi State.

The operations led to the rescue of four kidnap victims and the arrest of a suspected network member linked to IPOB/ESN criminal activities, according to the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 82 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni.

Rapid Response: Kidnap Victims Rescued in Enugu

In Ezeagu Local Government Area, troops of the 82 Division Garrison deployed at Akama responded swiftly to credible intelligence on a kidnap attempt along the Akama–Iwollo Road.

Troops pursued and engaged the criminals, successfully rescuing four abducted individuals and recovering a motorcycle and vehicle used in the operation. The victims and recovered items were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police for further investigation.

Network Disruption: Key Arrest in Ebonyi

In a related follow-up operation in Izzi Local Government Area, troops acted on intelligence derived from the earlier arrest of a notorious insurgent commander.

The operation led to the arrest of a suspected key member of the IPOB/ESN network, identified as “Baron,” whose preliminary interrogation revealed involvement in kidnapping activities within the state.

Further intelligence provided by the suspect enabled the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, magazines and ammunition from a concealed location within the area.

The coordinated actions highlight the growing effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations in dismantling criminal networks and restricting their operational freedom across the South East.
