Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have neutralised two suspected armed bandits and recovered an AK-47 rifle during a tactical clearance operation conducted in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The operation followed credible intelligence indicating suspicious gunfire activities within a forested area near the “Welcome to Donga” signpost in Akate District.
Acting on the intelligence, troops deployed to the location and carried out a coordinated tactical raid aimed at flushing out criminal elements threatening security within the axis.
Operational reports from the Brigade indicated that troops encountered suspected armed assailants upon arrival at the scene, leading to a gun duel during which two suspected bandits were neutralised.
Items recovered during the operation included one AK-47 rifle, five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two AK-47 magazines, two mobile phones and other personal effects.
Within the Brigade’s operational assessment, the raid forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on criminal networks operating across parts of Taraba State and adjoining areas under Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke.
The Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended troops involved in the operation for what military authorities described as swift response and professionalism during the engagement.
Brigade leadership further reinforced directives for sustained offensive operations against criminal elements across the state in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s operational mandate targeting armed violence, banditry and related security threats.
The Brigade also reaffirmed that operational reward and sanction measures remain active as part of efforts to strengthen discipline, motivation and combat effectiveness among troops deployed within the theatre.
Military authorities reassured residents of Taraba State of continued efforts to maintain aggressive operational pressure on criminal elements until threats affecting public safety and community stability are neutralised.
