Operation FANSAN YAMMA has disrupted what appears to be a coordinated terrorist kidnapping campaign in Zamfara State, rescuing the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Dr Aminu Yusuf, alongside 21 other abducted civilians in a series of rapid-response operations that denied armed groups another high-profile propaganda and ransom victory.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed that troops of Sector 2 responded to multiple distress calls after terrorists simultaneously targeted communities in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
During one attack, gunmen stormed the residence of Dr Yusuf, killed his private security guard, injured another resident and attempted to abduct the academic and members of his family.
Troops swiftly engaged the attackers with overwhelming firepower, forcing them to abandon the operation and flee, leaving the Rector and his family unharmed.
Military intervention later shifted to Tungan Dorawa in Barkeji Village, where troops disrupted another kidnapping operation despite difficult terrain that initially slowed their advance. Soldiers subsequently confronted a second terrorist group attempting to abduct prominent businessman Alhaji Azaria, compelling the attackers to abandon him and 21 other civilians seized from neighbouring homes.
The operations also led to the arrest of Falalu Yusuf, 45, a suspected terrorist informant believed to have supported the attackers. He has been handed over for further investigation.
The coordinated rescues reinforce Operation FANSAN YAMMA's intelligence-driven strategy of rapidly disrupting terrorist mobility, protecting vulnerable communities and degrading kidnapping networks that continue to threaten stability across Nigeria's North-West.
