The call was made by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, when he received the Comptroller of Immigration, Oyo State Command, Comptroller Ephraim Ogbemudia, and the NAFDAC Zonal Director for the South-West, Dr Isaac Anjorin Kolawole, during separate visits to the Division’s Headquarters at Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan, on 9 October 2026.
A statement issued on 10 October 2026 by Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director, 2 Division Army Public Relations, disclosed that Mahmuda urged the agencies to sustain cooperation, share intelligence promptly and coordinate operations, stressing that no single institution could effectively tackle the country’s security challenges in isolation.
He also encouraged the visiting officials to maintain cordial relations with host communities to build public trust and encourage residents to provide credible information, assuring both agencies of the Division’s continued support.
The statement further disclosed that Ogbemudia commended the Nigerian Army for its efforts in addressing security challenges in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State. He said the visit was intended to strengthen cooperation in intelligence sharing, border security, enforcement and community relations, while advocating an effective platform for information exchange and a public-friendly approach that would encourage residents to report suspicious activities without fear.
Kolawole, in his remarks, commended the Army for supporting NAFDAC’s regulatory activities, particularly efforts to protect Nigerians from counterfeit medicines, unsafe food products and other substandard regulated goods. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that medicines, food and other regulated products meet the required safety and quality standards.
The NAFDAC zonal director also sought the Army’s continued support in enforcing applicable Federal Government regulations, including restrictions on alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets and certain small-volume plastic bottles. He stressed that cooperation with security agencies was necessary to strengthen enforcement and improve compliance.
The visits highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation between security and regulatory institutions in addressing threats that cut across security, border management, public health and community protection.
