The terrorists attacked troops of 101 Special Forces Battalion from four directions but were met with stiff resistance as the troops responded with superior firepower, tactical manoeuvre and coordinated battlefield action.

The statement said preliminary assessment indicated that more than 25 terrorists had been neutralised, with 14 bodies recovered so far. Troops also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including six AK-47 rifles, during exploitation of the area.
Further exploitation is ongoing to recover additional weapons, track fleeing terrorists and prevent them from regrouping.
The Nigerian Army also confirmed that some soldiers were killed during the encounter, extending condolences to the families of the fallen personnel and acknowledging their sacrifice and devotion to duty.
The Army said the successful defence of the position demonstrated the combat readiness and resilience of troops in the North East Theatre, as well as the effectiveness of coordinated air-ground operations against terrorist activities.
Troops will continue to sustain operations against terrorists and other criminal elements through patrols, intelligence-led operations and coordinated actions with sister Services and other security agencies to disrupt terrorist networks, protect communities and safeguard the country.
