Kajuru- The name rings a bell?
According to the information I gathered, a room in Kajuru Castle cost as much as two hundred thousand naira per night and the booking can only be done online ahead of time.
For those hoping to visit this place at some point, a beautiful experience awaits and the Kajuru Local government Chairman, Honorable Cafra Caino Boaz, the Management of the Castle and indeed the people of Kajuru would be more than delighted to be your host.
Probably in the wrong way as it might have come up
in the news based on issues of communal clashes. But do you know you can be a
"Royalty" once there?
Well a visit to the Kajuru Castle will definitely convince you. In the meantime, here is my account of the Kajuru experience.
Kajuru is a local government located in Southern Kaduna and has as one of its biggest tourist and recreational assets; the Kajuru Castle.
The Voice of Nigeria news team was on a duty tour of the Southern Kaduna, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Headquarters to find out issues that could have triggered some of the pockets of crisis and criminal activities that have arisen in the areas concerned.
The tour took us to the administrative Headquarters of the Kajuru Local government which as I discovered has all the potential to be a tourist safe haven with the beautiful architectural masterpiece seated on top of a huge rock just a few meters from the local government Secretariat.
The short walk that leads to the towering rock has a canopy of trees that form a cool shade above. And being a lover of nature, one cannot keep eyes on the ground but look up at how the leaves of different flowery tree species interlocked above to give protection from the sun.
Upon emerging from the short walk, lo and behold, we faced what looks like a daunting ascend to the top of the rock where the castle seats beautifully on the zenith, one begins to appreciate the beauty that curiosity would not let the laziest person give up on climbing to the top, just to unravel the secrets that the castle holds and demystifies the wonders that await within it.
With a glimpse from the bottom of the Architectural wonder towering above and the undying desire to capture it all on camera, I couldn't wait to get up there and see it all with my eyes and tell the story.
On getting to the top, I was tempted to ask of His/Her Royal majesty occupying the castle. But quickly the information got to me: the Royalty is anyone and everyone that gets the opportunity to walk through the gates and spends a night in this 'hilltop hotel'. So take it... Once a guest lodges in this castle, they automatically are royalty.
The Kajuru Castle is a beauty to behold and the view of the beautiful surrounding vegetation from the top of the castle is so appealing. Within the castle is a touch of wildlife and nature, a crocodile pond with its sole resident hiding away from the ray of sun.
And
on the other side of the castle at its peak, one of the most beautiful bird
species, two okins seated majestically and overlooking the beautiful castle
environment and our presence did not deter their serenity.
Also worthy of note is the beautiful eco-friendly swimming pool that has its water purifying system. There are beautiful species of flowers planted strategically within the castle with outdoor sitting huts that overlook expands of land around the towering rock.
How a big size swimming pool that overflows without floating the place gets to be constructed on top of a rock? That’s a conversation I would love to have with the castle designer to let me in on the secrets.
But how do I get this German genius that is responsible for this architectural wonder? I would really appreciate interviewing him on this delightful place. One thing is certain, the Kajuru Castle is one site that has attracted movies and music video shoots with some of the most popular Nigerian musicians and movie production companies traveling to Southern Kaduna to have a feel of the environment as testified by some of the local security guarding the castle.
