FIFA U-20- Nigeria Flying Eagles Stun Host Nation Argentina 2-0


Nigeria's U-20 male team, the Flying Eagles have kicked out tournament host and favourite Argentina 2-nill in front of their home crowd who were left devastated at Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario. 


Two second half strikes from Ibrahim Muhammad in the 61st minutes and Rilwanu Sarki in the 91st minute were all Nigeria needed to secure an astonishing win for that stunned hosts and title favourites Argentina as the nigerian side moves into the FIFA U-20 World Cup quarter-finals.

Nigeria ended a run of 10 straight U-20 World Cup victories for Argentina in Argentina. They had won all seven games when they hosted the tournament in 2001, and their first three at this edition.


Nigeria will now face the winner of Ecuador-Korea Republic game in the quarter-finals in Santiago del Estero on Sunday.


Coach of the Flying Eagles Ladan Bosso who spoke after the game said his sideust remain focus as they look to the next game. 

In Wednesday’s other round of 16 games, Brazil thrashed Tunisia 4-1 while Italy beat England 2-1 with Cesare Casadei's late penalty helping Italy edge England to reach the FIFA U-20 World Cup quarter-finals.


Italy will meet Colombia in the quarter-finals in San Juan on Saturday. Colombia qualified for the quarterfinals of the U-20 World Cup after demonstrating their superiority over Slovakia with 5-1 victory.
