As part of effort to improving the skills of operators of Explosive Ordnance Devices (EOD) in the North East (NE) theatre of operations, the Theatre Commander Operations Hadin Kai in Maiduguri has inaugurated the maiden Counter - Improvised Explosive Device Basic Field Exploitation Course 1/2023 organized by the British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT).
The Theatre Commander Joint Task Force (JTF) NE Operation HADIN KAI Major General Gold Chibuisi whike declaring the 10 day training course open at the Theatre Training School Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, disclosed that the training was tailored towards equipping the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge required to mould them into better EOD operatives that will be professionally responsive.
He emphasized that Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) had become a portent weapon used by the terrorists in perpetrating their dastardly acts in the NE, pointing out that he was delighted that the EOD teams are doing a better job to destroy and detonate IEDs across the theatre.
He urged the participants to think outside the box and extend their actions in tackling bobby traps as well as make the course a worthy endeavour to save lives of troops and civilians.
The Commander 47 Engineer Brigade Brigadier General KO Ukandu appreciated the BMATT for organising the course, nothing that the participants who were drown from the military and other security agencies in Maiduguri, were lucky to be nominated for the course. He further stated that the training would help the operators gain knowledge on how to carry out exploitation after IED incidence.
Present during the brief ceremony include; Deputy Theatre Commander JTF Operation HADIN KAI Maj Gen OM Bello, General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army/ Commander Sector 1 JTF Operation HADIN KAI Maj Gen PP Malla, BMATT facilitators, Component Commanders, Chief of Staff Headquarters Theatre Command Brig Gen A Idris and other senior officers.
