Moroccan sensation Nesryne El Chad achieved another milestone by clinching the inaugural CAF Women's Young Player of the Year award on Monday.
At age 20 years old, El Chad surpassed formidable contenders Comfort Yeboah of Ghana and Deborah Abiodun of Nigeria to secure this groundbreaking honor at the prestigious CAF Awards ceremony in Marrakech.
El Chad's remarkable 2023 campaign has solidified her status as one of Africa's most promising talents. As a key figure in Morocco's historic Women's World Cup journey, she played a pivotal role in guiding the Atlas Lionesses to the last 16, starting in every match.
Impressively, El Chad's influence extends beyond her defensive prowess, as her exceptional communication and leadership qualities earned her the captain's armband on multiple occasions. Notably, she already held the distinction of being the youngest-ever scorer for Morocco and the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, achieving this feat at the age of 19 years and 114 days in July.
With the football world at her feet, El Chad's future looks exceptionally bright as she continues to blaze a trail as a determined and tenacious young athlete. Her achievements underscore her rapid ascent as a standout talent on the African and global football stage.
