African Counter Terrorism Meeting: Nigeria Libya Partners On Stopping Proliferation of Small Arms, Light Weapons


The Nigerian Government is extentinding a hand of fellowship to the Libyan Government to work together on tackling the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.

The discussion also explored areas of partnership and collaboration to stop the trafficking of illicit drugs from Libya to Nigeria. 

This was part of discussion on the side line of the high level African Counter terrorism meeting in Abuja between the Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru when he had audience with the delegation of Libyan National Security Agency.

In a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike, Badaru said that for the safety and stability of both countries and their citizens, there was the need to work together in checking the wide spread arms and light weapons proliferation.

The Nigerian Minister of Defence and the Libyan delegations led by General Mahammed Azain discussed other pressing security issues affecting both countries including cooperation, sharing of intelligence and Information that would assist in policy planning and direction among the two countries.
