Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar Directs Air Component Commanders To Hit Harder At Criminal Elements

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar has issued a directive to Air Component Commanders to intensify their efforts in ongoing operations while highlighting the critical role they have played in ensuring the safety and security of the nation. 

The Nigerian Air Chief made the call while addressing all Air Component Commanders in a virtual meeting held on 26 August 2024 as contained in a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal  Edward Gabkwet. 

The directive and meeting is coming on the heels of the significant successes recently recorded in various theaters of operations across the country through the dedication of the Air components in all theatres of operations, as they unrelentingly provide adequate air support to the ground troops, ensuring the demolition of criminal elements and their strongholds in various locations. 
 
While commending the Commanders for their outstanding performance, so far, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar noted that their dedication and tactical efforts have led to a series of successful missions, eliminating key terrorist leaders, disrupting activities of oil thieves and pipeline vandals as well as safeguarding key national assets. 

"The Service, and indeed the entire nation, is proud of your achievements, your relentless pursuit of excellence and commitment to duty which has not gone unnoticed" 

"The recent operational successes are a testament to your leadership, the professionalism of the men and women under your command. We must, however, continue to hit them hard until they succumb to our superior might.” stated the Air Chief. 

He acknowledged the successes attained so far and emphasized that the challenges are far from over, calling on the commanders to maintain the momentum. 
Air Marshal Abubakar urged them to remain vigilant and continue leverage on intelligence, precision strikes, and collaborative efforts with sister services to neutralize all remaining threats. 

“We must not rest on our laurels as the security of our nation depends on our continued resolve and unwavering commitment"

" I therefore charge you to intensify your efforts and push forward with even greater determination as the Nigerian Air Force will continue to provide all necessary support to ensure the success of our missions.” 

The CAS also reassured the Commanders that the Nigerian Air Force leadership remains fully committed to their welfare and the provision of essential resources and equipment to enhance operational capabilities, while expressing confidence in their ability to deliver on their mandate, stressing that the nation’s security and peace is paramount.

Recent air strikes targeting terrorists in Zamfara, Katsina, and Kaduna, as well as oil thieves in Rivers and Imo States, earned the commendations from the CAS and other well-meaning Nigerians. 

While these efforts are commendable, the Service in the statement assured the nation that it remains committed to restoring peace across all theatres of Operation and the length and breath of Nigeria to ensure that citizens can pursue their lawful activities without fear for their lives or property.
