D’Tigress of Nigeria have a groundbreaking performance at the Olympics Basketball event to become the first African team, male or female to qualify for the Olympics quarterfinal stage in Paris, France.
The team achieved the feat after defeating Canada on Sunday 70-79 in an intense game thay saw coach Rena Wakma's team roaring hard in the third quarter, slipping at halftime 41-37 to the fifth ranked team in the world, Canada.
D’Tigress started the third quarter like a house on fire, going on an 11-0 run to lead by 9 points. By third quarter, Team Nigeria was leading by 46-60.
The Nigerian side shows capability of defeating any team in the competition. They are formidable opponents physically, and their next opponent have their work cutout for them.
