All Is Set For 2nd African Military Games Opening Ceremony On Wednesday 20th November

All is set for the opening ceremony of the African Military Games Abuja (AMGA) slated for Wednesday 20 November 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria's Capital City with 25 countries participating and 474 athletes representing Nigeria. 

The Second Edition of the African Military Games which runs from November 28th to 30th will feature over 3,000 military personnel competing in 19 disciplines including athletics, football, basketball, wrestling, shooting, and taekwondo amongst others. 
The event which aims to promote camaraderie, physical fitness, and regional collaboration among the continent’s armed forces is organised by the African Military Sports Organization (OSMA) in partnership with Nigeria’s Ministry of Defence to underscore the unifying power of sports.

At the press conference heralding the competition, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, praised the Games as a platform to foster cooperation and strengthen military ties across Africa.
“From November 18 to November 30, 2024, this event provides a unique opportunity for our armed forces to showcase their skills, foster camaraderie among participants, and strengthen military cooperation and partnerships.”

The event give Nigeria an opportunity to display its cultural richness, with participating nations showcasing traditional dances, military drills, and a flypast by the Nigerian Air Force during the parade of nations according the CDS.
According to General Christopher Musa, hosting the Games in Abuja is a testament to Nigeria’s commitment to peace, security, and sports development.
