GENEVA – July 28, 2025 — Tammam Aloudat, CEO of The New Humanitarian, has issued a powerful call for humanitarian organisations to move beyond statements and take radical action to halt what he describes as an unfolding genocide in Gaza.
In a scathing critique, Aloudat accused Western
governments of enabling Israel’s campaign in Gaza through arms sales and
political cover. At the same time, humanitarian groups have been left unable to
provide meaningful aid due to Israeli obstruction. He warned that unless aid
agencies unite to challenge their governments through legal and direct action,
they risk becoming irrelevant — or complicit.
“Speaking out is no longer enough,”
Aloudat said. “Humanitarians must now take legal steps against complicit
governments and attempt to break the siege themselves if they are to uphold
their moral responsibilities.”
He called for a coordinated,
cross-border legal campaign targeting countries like the US, UK, France, and
Germany. He urged humanitarian coalitions to mount large-scale efforts — by
land or sea — to deliver aid directly into Gaza.
Aloudat compared the current inaction
to the moral failure of humanitarian agencies during the Holocaust and warned
of the lasting damage to international law and humanitarian norms if silence
continues.
